The recommended range for pendant light height over a table is 70-80 cm from the tabletop to the bottom of the fixture. The difference between the two ends of this range is noticeable: 70 cm creates a focused beam of light, while 80 cm provides wider coverage and suits a large table.
There’s a simple test: sit at the table and check whether you can see the person across from you without having to lean to the side. This is the only test that really matters; everything else is secondary.
