Evelyn is one of our signature pieces. Hundreds of small shells, hand-strung one at a time onto a woven rope frame, cascading down in three tiers about a metre long. When the light comes through, the shells throw a soft mottled glow across the whole room. Not sharp, not spotlight-bright. More like natural light filtered through a curtain.
She works best where there's height for her to breathe. Stairwells. Double-height living rooms. Above a long dining table (three in a row is genuinely dramatic if you have the ceiling for it). In a normal-height bedroom she'd feel too dominant - 85 cm of hanging chandelier is a lot.
About the shells.
Every shell is naturally sourced, and every one is slightly different in shape and colour. That's what gives her the handmade look. Small variations in the strings and the tips of the shells are part of the finish, not defects. If you're expecting a perfectly symmetrical chandelier, this isn't the piece for you. If you like the natural, coastal-boho aesthetic - she's exactly right.
About the bulb.
Evelyn uses a standard E27 fitting with a maximum 60W bulb. Warm white (2700K) works best - cool white kills the natural glow of the shells. The bulb is not included as standard, but you can add one to your order at checkout for AED 45 if you don't have a spare at home.
About installation.
She's not heavy, but she's tall and delicate. Professional installation is the safer route unless you're comfortable with electrical work. We offer it as an add-on at checkout for AED 45 - the electrician handles the wiring, ceiling mount, and levelling so nothing gets damaged in the process.
Care.
Once a month, gently dust with a soft cloth or feather duster. That's it. Don't spray water or cleaning product directly on the shells - they don't need it, and it can dull the natural finish over time.
