Vienna Rattan Hanging Light Large

Vienna is a wave rather than a shade. Hand-woven rattan twisted into a shallow, undulating disc that reads as sculpture when the light is off and softens the whole room when it is on. The slim cord and minimal canopy keep the fixture feeling contemporary rather than rustic.

About the size and hanging height.

Medium suits a table of around 140-180 cm or a compact island. Large is for a full dining table or a long island, from about 200 cm upward. As a rule, a pendant should measure roughly one third the width of the surface below it.

Hang either size 70 to 80 cm above a dining table, measured from the tabletop to the bottom of the fixture, or 75 to 90 cm above an island. Over a walkway, keep at least 2.1 m of clear height underneath.

About the light.

The open weave is the point. Light passes through the rattan and throws a soft, dappled pattern across the ceiling, so the fixture lights the room twice - once directly, once as shadow. Use a warm 2700K bulb; cool white flattens the effect and strips the warmth out of the rattan.

About the material.

Handwoven rattan, light for its size, with the small irregularities that come with hand production. The shallow profile means it takes up very little visual height, which matters in apartments with standard ceilings where a deep fixture closes a room down.

Indoor and covered outdoor use.

Indoors, or outdoors under a solid roof. Natural rattan does not belong in direct year-round sun or driving rain.

Care.

Dust with a dry, soft brush along the weave. Wipe with a barely damp cloth and dry immediately. Keep out of direct air-conditioning airflow.
