And with the right furniture choices, you can even escape the city’s hustle and bustle on summer evenings. This isn’t about expensive designer solutions, but rather about understanding how your space works.

Zoning Your Terrace: Dining Area, Lounge Area, and How to Connect Them
You need to start with the layout. Most terraces require two distinct zones - a dining area and a lounge area. Not because the rules say so, but because they serve fundamentally different purposes.
The dining area is built around an outdoor dining table and outdoor dining chairs. As a rule, this is where people eat and talk. The lounge area is all about an outdoor sofa, armchairs, and a coffee table. It’s the place where evenings begin and end. This division is the foundation of any well-designed outdoor dining space.
How do you combine them? Since there are practically no walls in such spaces, you need to delineate the areas visually. This means you can place rugs under each zone to mark the boundaries visually. It’s best to leave about 100-120 cm between the zones for a walkway.
If your terrace is less than 15 square meters, we recommend choosing just one zone. A more versatile option would be a lounge with an outdoor sofa, where you can both relax and eat. Terraces measuring 15-30 square meters can accommodate both zones, but if it’s larger, you can add additional elements such as a lounge chair, a hanging chair, or a bar table.
The main rule: each zone should feel like a separate room while maintaining a unified aesthetic. This is what transforms a random collection of furniture into a thoughtfully designed space.
Choosing an Outdoor Sofa and Armchairs: The Lounge Zone
The outdoor sofa is the heart of the lounge zone. This is where most of your time on the terrace is spent: morning coffee, evening conversations, quiet hours with a book. Place it along the longest wall or railing.

For 8 guests, it’s better to opt for a rectangular outdoor dining table measuring 220×100 cm. In any case, leave at least 80 cm of clearance around the table so chairs can be pulled back freely.
Materials: Teak is the gold standard for outdoor dining furniture in Dubai. It doesn’t crack, swell, or warp, and ages beautifully. Concrete is monumental and heavy - set it down and forget about it. Rattan offers warmth and beauty, but is only suitable for covered terraces.
