Zelda Large Textured Ceramic Floor Vase

She is big. Fifty-six centimetres tall and fifty-one across at her widest point, which makes her a floor piece rather than something for a console or a shelf. Set her beside a sofa, in an empty corner, or at the foot of a staircase - anywhere a room has a gap that furniture would overfill.

About the size. At 51 cm across she needs roughly 70 cm of clear floor to look settled rather than wedged in. Her neck narrows to a small opening, which is what lets a few tall branches hold their position without arranging.

What works in her. Dried pampas, bare branches, preserved foliage, tall grasses. Three stems is usually enough - more than that and the shape of the vase disappears behind them. Because she stands on the floor, allow 80 to 100 cm of stem above the rim for the proportions to hold.

About the material. Ceramic, with a textured hand-finished surface worked to look weathered - matte, slightly chalky, closer to old stone than to a glazed pot. The grey shifts warmer or cooler depending on the light in the room. There is a visible horizontal seam around her middle; it is part of how she is made, not a flaw.

Indoor or covered outdoor. Indoors, or a shaded covered terrace. Not for full sun or year-round exposure - the hand-applied surface finish lifts over time in open weather.

Care. Dust with a dry cloth or a soft brush. Avoid detergents and abrasive cleaners, which cut through the texture. Lift her from the base, not the neck.

Good to know

A floor vase - too large for a shelf or a console
Hand-finished, so texture and tone vary piece to piece
Heavy - two people to move her into position
Narrow neck opening; check the thickness of your stems
Indoors or a covered terrace
