Stella White Table Lamp

Stella pairs a compact white base with a shade built from capiz shell discs.

Lit, the shell glows rather than shines. The light comes through the discs instead of off them, so what you get is soft and warm rather than bright. That makes her a bedside and console lamp rather than anything you would read by for an hour.

About the size.

Base 37 cm high, 37 cm long, 22 cm wide. Comfortable on a bedside table, a console, or a sideboard. Check the full dimensions below against the gap before you place her under a low shelf - the shade is wider than the base.

About the material.

Capiz shell discs on a metal frame with a painted base. Capiz is the shell used for lampshades precisely because it is thin enough for light to pass through - that translucency is the whole effect. It is a natural material, so the discs vary in tone and no two shades are identical.

Getting the light right.

Use a warm bulb at 2700K and the shell glows the way it is meant to. Cool white kills the effect entirely - you end up with an expensive white shade. This is the one thing that decides whether she looks the way she does in the photograph.

Indoor vs outdoor.

Indoor only. Shell and humidity are a poor combination over time.

Care.

Dust the shell with a soft dry brush and keep it dry. Lift her by the base, and the shade by its frame rather than by the discs - the same way you would handle any shade.
