Myla Ceramic Vase White

Myla takes the shape of a classic Greek pitcher - a wide angular body, a pulled spout and a single arched handle - and renders it in handmade ceramic with a tone-on-tone whitewash finish. The silhouette is traditional, the proportions are not: the body is squarer and the stance heavier than a true pitcher, which is what makes it read as a sculptural object rather than a jug.

About the finish.

Whitewash applied over textured ceramic, so the surface carries visible tonal variation rather than a flat coat. Every piece is finished by hand, which means the depth of the wash and the pattern of the texture vary from vase to vase.

Where it works.

On a kitchen counter, where the pitcher shape belongs naturally. On a dining or coffee table as a centrepiece. On a sideboard or an open shelf as a standalone object. It works filled with dried pampas and branches, and equally well left empty - the shape does enough on its own.

Pairs particularly well with warm woods, rattan and linen, and holds its own against darker or more modern pieces.

Care.

Wipe gently with a soft damp cloth and dry immediately. Avoid abrasive cleaners, which will lift the whitewash finish. Handle the handle rather than the spout when carrying.
