230 x 160 cm. That's the sweet spot for a medium-sized living room (fits comfortably under a 3-seater sofa with 2 chairs), or a large bedroom (extends beyond a queen bed on three sides). If you have a larger open-plan space, you might want to size up.

About the material.

Handwoven from a durable cotton blend, with natural warm undertones running through the pattern. Low-pile, so it sits flat under furniture without bunching or slipping. Soft underfoot but not so soft that it flattens with use.

Why we call it sustainable.

The Marcel is made in a small workshop where every rug is handwoven rather than machine-produced. The cotton is sourced from partner farms that use low-water irrigation, and the natural dye process uses roughly 60% less water than industrial rug production. Every rug also employs artisan makers with fair-trade wages. That's what we mean when we say sustainable - not just a label, but a real production choice.

Where it works.

Living rooms under a sofa cluster. Bedrooms below the foot of the bed. Hallways and entryways where you want warmth underfoot but need something that stays flat. Pair with linen upholstery, wooden furniture, and warm-toned decor - the natural fibre family.

Honest note on new rugs.

Handwoven rugs shed a little in the first 2-3 weeks - that's the loose fibres from the weaving process settling. It looks alarming the first time you vacuum, but it stops on its own and doesn't affect the rug's durability. If you want to speed it up, vacuum daily with a light touch for the first week.

Care.

Vacuum weekly with a light touch (no beater brush). Blot spills immediately with a clean cloth - don't rub or soak. Trim any loose ends with scissors rather than pulling. Rotate the rug 180° every 6 months so wear is even. For deep cleaning, professional rug cleaning once a year keeps her looking sharp.
