Hazel White Feathered Wall Hanging (Large)

Hazel is a large feathered wall hanging in the tradition of the juju hat - a woven crown of natural white feathers with a small woven centre framed by shells. Originally a Cameroonian ceremonial piece, it's become one of the most recognisable pieces of boho wall decor because nothing else has quite the same soft texture or presence.

She's hand-made. Every feather is individually attached to a rattan-woven frame, and every juju hat comes out slightly different - a few more feathers, a slightly different angle at the crown. That's part of what makes each piece feel handmade rather than mass-produced.

About the size.

The Large size is roughly 60 cm across (Ø). Big enough to hold a wall on its own above a queen or king bed, above a sofa, or as the focal point of a bedroom wall. If you want something smaller for a bedside or console area, we also carry the Medium and Small sizes.

The piece sits about 6-8 cm out from the wall - noticeable dimension, but nothing that gets in the way.

Where it works.

Above the bed. Above a linen sofa. On a feature wall above a console table. In a reading nook. Feathered wall hangings pair especially well with rattan furniture, wooden bed frames, and neutral bedding - the whole natural fibre family.

For layered boho compositions, combine Hazel with a smaller dream catcher or a woven rattan plate on the flanking walls. In minimalist rooms, she works best alone with plenty of visible wall space around her.

About the feathers.

The feathers are naturally sourced - no birds are harmed. Small variations in shape, colour and length are natural and part of the handmade finish.

Placement.

Comes with a small loop on the back for a single-nail hang. One person can hang her comfortably. Best hung with the centre of the piece at roughly 145-155 cm from the floor, or 25-30 cm above the top of the headboard if placed above a bed.

Care.

Dust gently once a month with a soft feather duster or by giving her a very gentle shake. Don't spray water or cleaner directly on the feathers. If a feather comes loose over time, it can be gently re-tucked into the frame.
