Emma Travertine Table

Emma is cut from genuine Italian travertine - the same stone used across Roman architecture for two thousand years - left unfilled so the natural pitting and pores stay visible. Every top is unique, because no two pieces of stone carry the same pattern of veining and holes.

About the size and use.

A compact round table on three slim matte black legs. Low enough to sit beside a sofa or an armchair, small enough for an apartment where a full-size coffee table would crowd the room. Use it as a side table for a lamp and a book, as a compact coffee table in a small lounge, or as a bedside table where the stone reads more interesting than timber.

About the material.

Travertine is a natural limestone, warm beige in tone, with an unfilled matte finish that you can feel under your hand. It is a stone that ages rather than wears - marks and patina develop over years and become part of the piece.

The matte black legs keep the piece visually light. Without them a stone top this size would read as heavy; with them it reads as sculptural.

Where it works.

Beside a sofa or armchair in a living room. In a compact apartment where a large coffee table does not fit. As a bedside table for something more characterful than wood. Pairs naturally with linen upholstery, warm woods and jute rugs, and holds its own against black metal and modern pieces.

Care.

Wipe with a soft damp cloth and dry immediately. Blot spills straight away rather than letting them sit. Use coasters under drinks. Apply a stone sealer once a year to keep the surface protected. Avoid acidic cleaners, bleach and abrasive scrubs, which etch limestone.
