Aurora Macrame Pendant Light

Aurora is a soft, textural pendant: a clean drum silhouette wrapped in fine cord, finished with a row of hand-tied tassels around the lower edge. The shape is simple; the surface is where the craft shows.

About the light.

A drum shade of this kind diffuses light rather than directing it, so the glow is even and gentle rather than a pool beneath the fixture. The tassel fringe breaks the light at the base and softens the edge of the shadow it casts. The result reads warm and lived-in rather than bright and functional - which makes it better suited to a bedroom, a lounge or a dining table than to a task area like a kitchen work surface.

About the size and hanging height.

Hang it 70 to 80 cm above a dining table, measured from the tabletop to the bottom of the fixture. In a bedroom, hang a pair either side of the bed at roughly eye level when seated, or use a single fixture centred over a seating area. Over any walkway, keep at least 2.1 m of clearance to the floor.

About the material.

Handcrafted natural fibre over a drum frame, with hand-tied tassels. Every fixture is made by hand, so the density of the wrap and the fall of the tassels vary slightly from piece to piece.

Where it works.

Bedrooms, living rooms, dining areas, and creative or reading spaces. It sits comfortably in boho, coastal and rustic interiors, and works as a soft counterpoint in a more minimal room.

Care.

Dust with a dry, soft brush or a vacuum on the lowest setting with an upholstery attachment. Comb the tassels straight with your fingers if they tangle. Do not wash or soak. Keep out of direct air-conditioning airflow, which dries and frays natural fibre over time.
